|ACUNS Annual Meeting,
July 12-14th 2018,LUISS UNIVERSITY, Rome, Italy
Human Rights, Migration and Global Governance.
After being elected to UN body, UN Secretary General issued statement that year 2018 marks the migration of large number of people to seek a safer and better life from countries of Africa, Middle East and South Asia towards Europe and North America. However, record number of migration to Europe in the year 2015, there was counter reaction to immigration based on political, social, economic and security concerns. UK is leaving European Union calling it BREXIT. President Trump of USA is appealing American public about the fear of immigrants, declining visa to number of visitors from conflict zone countries. The conference will discuss, whether the rights of citizens also must be balanced against the rights of those fleeing persecution and desperation. The populist movements in Europe refocus national policy away from cosmopolitan ideals. These problems present severe contemporary challenge for democratic institutions as well as the 'Idea of Global Governance.'
